BIOGRAPHY

Kerry Zak obtained her Masters in Dance Education (EdM) from Rutgers Graduate School of Education. She completed her full-time student teaching clinical internship at Union County Vocational Technical Schools, Academy for Performing Arts in Scotch Plains, NJ, and part-time internship teaching dance to grades PK-5 in the Franklin Township school district. She is on faculty at the Center for Dance Education in Clark, NJ and Starstruck Dance Studio in Stirling, NJ teaching ballet, jazz, and hip hop. Most recently, she was a member of the dance faculty at the Ocean County Vocational Schools Performing Arts Academy, where she instructed the dance curriculum for grades 9, 10, and 12. During her graduate studies, she has served on the student board for the Rutgers National Dance Education Organization (NDEO) Chapter, and has been inducted into the National Honor Society for Dance Arts.

Kerry graduated with a B.F.A. in Dance Performance from Mason Gross School of the Arts, Rutgers University, in 2019. During her time at Mason Gross, Kerry danced in works by Mark Morris, Yin Yue, Alexandra Beller, Maxine Doyle, Randy James, Cleo Mack and Blair Ritchie. In 2017, she had the opportunity to perform as part of “Rutgers in New York” at the esteemed Joyce Theatre. Furthermore, Kerry was selected to serve as a student representative of the Dance department’s full-time faculty search committee, and was honored as a recipient of the Victoria J. Mastrobuono Scholarship for excellence in the study of Dance Education.

Kerry has performed on various stages across New York and New Jersey, and currently performs professionally with company 78Moves. She holds her 200 Hour Registered Yoga Teacher certification through Om Factory NYC, and has taught Vinyasa yoga and gymnastics at various studios across New Jersey. In 2020, she became an ABT® certified teacher in levels Pre-Primary through Level 3 in the American Ballet Theatre's National Training Curriculum. Kerry’s teaching philosophy aims to incorporate her various backgrounds in training to create a safe, accessible, and nurturing environment for students to cultivate strong movement mechanics and a high level of kinesthetic awareness.
