DOMAIN 4: PROFESSIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES
4a. Reflecting on Teaching
-
Accuracy
-
Use in future teaching
It is imperative that an educator continues to reflect upon their teaching practices in order to continually enhance and adapt pedagogical strategies. Below I have shared my Before/After Reflection that is summative of my shift in perception on dance education as a result of the EdM program.
4b. Maintaining Accurate Records
-
Student completion of assignments
-
Student progress in learning
-
Non-instructional records
My clinical student teaching experience enhanced my ability to keep track of student records for daily grading and attendance both manually and electronically through the use of Google classroom and Microsoft Excel. Furthermore, I have obtained copies of certifications recognizing my completion of HIB training, CardiacWise, HeatWise, and ConcussionWise. Click here to view copies of certificates.
4c. Communicating with Families
-
About instructional program
-
About individual students
-
Engagement of families in instructional program
Communicating with families is paramount to successful instruction and ensures clarity on both the end of the student and their family as well as the educator. Below is an example of a newsletter I curated with take-home extension activities related to a kindergarten dance unit taught at Elizabeth Avenue School in Franklin, NJ.

Relationships with colleagues
-
Participation in school projects
-
Involvement in culture of professional inquiry

Service to school
My involvement in the school community as well as the wider network of professionals within the field of dance education is intertwined through volunteering and service. Enhancement to content knowledge and pedagogical skill

Service to the profession
My consistent attendance at professional development workshops on the local, state, and national level has assissted my development as a professional. This year, I was fortunate enough to attend the 2019 NDEO Conference held in Miami, FL and connect with fellow dance educators from around the United States, immensely enhancing my development as a professional.
